DRI Energy occupies an exciting and rapidly expanding presence in the energy services industry. Increasing markets and company growth have led to the creation of the Solar Design Engineer. We seek a solar systems design innovator who can drive the Company’s differentiated solutions in the photovoltaic (PV) space. The position reports to DRI Energy’s Executive Vice President and, depending on the selected candidate's preference, will be based in Irvine or San Leandro, California.
Role:
The Solar Design Engineer will work with the Company’s business development and project management teams to develop cost effective solar solutions for roof and ground mount systems. Other key areas of responsibility include:
- Manage large scale PV system designs from conception to installation
- Interface with engineers, architects, general contractors, owners, electrical inspectors and utility engineers throughout the installation process
- Evaluate and recommend system designs providing optimal aesthetics, performance and price in accordance with customer goals and expectations
- Work closely with sales and marketing to develop PV system solutions that address commercial and utility market segment needs
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, architectural design or an equivalent level of education and experience
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as a designer or estimator working on solar or renewable energy projects
- Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Light (2D)
- Knowledge of architectural drafting standards, as well as blueprint and specification reading skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- NABCEP certification
- Electrical Engineering skills
